Massage therapy is a long-term solution for muscle performance and injury rehabilitation and prevention. It takes time and several sessions to achieve the intended effect. Sports massage can be described as the skilled, manual, therapeutic application of soft tissue remedial techniques that are selected and performed after careful consultation, recording of medical history and appropriate general and specific assessment.
Sports massage has a means to help prepare an athlete for competition, as a tool to enhance athletic performance, as a treatment approach to help the athlete recover after exercise or competition, and as a manual therapy intervention for sports-related musculo-skeletal injuries.
Sports massage is done with the principal mandate of returning you to your desired sports activity with the same or an even better level of function. The massages can include more aggressive techniques that approach muscles more deeply using a variety of techniques such as remedial massage, trigger point therapy, cross fibre techniques and deep tissue work.
However, this massage is not just for sporting athletes, everyone can benefit from a sports massage to deal with any aches, pains or strains.
